Iraqi Basketball Federation
At Wembley Stadium in London, the boys of Mesopotamia were shown before the world for the first time in an Olympic tournament. This happened on July 29, 1948. The Iraqi delegation was among the 59 countries that participated in the Olympics. Our heroes were shown wearing green suits and wearing Al-Faisaliah Al-Baghdadia (traditional cap), which distinguished the elegance of the youth of the capital, Baghdad at the time. The idea of participating in the Olympics was born with the birth of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee in 1948. This indicates the first and most important event in Iraq's Olympic history. The participation of Iraqi athletes was limited to basketball and athletics, and as a pass that secures permission for the Iraqi basketball team to participate, it was necessary to work on forming or establishing the first Iraqi Basketball Federation in 1948.
